From learning how to present boards during the course of this year has given me a professional approach of showing my work
having clear photographs and simple explanation of the boards.

This was my first time creating boards what is good brief they look OK but could of been a lot better and got alot of help producing it but still quite understand how boards work.

Again when making the live brief with Adam (ctrl alt shift HIV)
we created great ideas and final result but when came to producing the boards it click how boards should work

Live project windows of oppertunitys and dont panic
created a simple decreative illustration to put on the windows of oppertunity making it bright and colourful and delicate feel.

Working with adam was brillant as we got on well and i was listened to my oppionons and always willing to show has ideas. I was very honest which made use push each others work and made use bring an fantastic idea and design consept.
We both had an stricked timetable which we stuck to very well and i think thats why we produced a such amount of work but with quality aswell.

and i was i charge of the images and spray painting, screen printing and creating bags.
both of use got to work with each other designs and had the freedom to play with it.

For the good breif I ahd to test different designs for t-shirts and produced a fast amonut of t-shirt designs:
I like to produce more than one ideas but mulitple this my strong suite

my quality of final produces and photographs have improved a lot and begingin to enjoy the finshing part which at the beginning of the course i didnt enjoy at all.

Weaknesses:
Was my after effects I enjoyed the storyboards the whole creative part but working on the computer was un-inspiring and the fear of losing my work was not nice but made me constantly back up my work not with just after effects but with everthing that I do I back my work onto my spare hard drive and disks.

Its deffently made me narrow down what I dont want to do

Professional Concerns:
feel like Ive misssed out on typ elective I do know the basics but I feel my knowledge of it is bad and during the third year and the summer i will be concertrating on typ and layout.

During the 1st year I was happy just to get a pass
but when i did my enterprise I choose something I enjoyed and that was book and My bussiness plan was to create a independent book shop
I got 78% for my presentation, because of this gradeit made me more determined to get better grade for my critical studies

so I choose something that I m passionate about and know quite well

a iconic piece of graphic design I decided to manipulate the meaning of the map. I changed it to a decorative piece with a homemade feel.

About Windows of Opportunity in 2009

York Museums Trust, supported by Visit York, are piloting an innovative digital design programme to address the visual impact of empty shops in York city centre.

The scheme will look to dress empty shop windows with external, high quality vinyls which will feature contemporary digital designs that respond to their setting.

Designers are encouraged to submit digital images on the theme of ‘Windows of Opportunity in 2009’, reacting positively to the changing world and looking to the future. We are looking for work that is new, contemporary and forward thinking.

Two specific sites in the city centre have been selected for this pilot and so two designs will be selected from all submissions to feature on these windows as part of the launch of this initiative. The designers will be credited on the windows – a fantastic way to exhibit your work to the world!

It rains incessantly in London – not a day, not an hour without rain, a deluge that has now lasted for years and changed the way people travel, their clothes, leisure activities, imagination and desires. They dream about infinitely dry deserts.

This continual watering has had a strange effect on urban sculptures. As well as erosion and rust, they have started to grow like giant, thirsty tropical plants, to become even more monumental. In order to hold this organic growth in check, it has been decided to store them in the Turbine Hall, surrounded by hundreds of bunks that shelter – day and night – refugees from the rain.

A giant screen shows a strange film, which seems to be as much experimental cinema as science fiction. Fragments of Solaris, Fahrenheit 451 and Planet of the Apes are mixed with more abstract sequences such as Johanna Vaude's L'Oeil Sauvage but also images from Chris Marker's La Jetée. Could this possibly be the last film?

On the beds are books saved from the damp and treated to prevent the pages going mouldy and disintegrating. On every bunk there is at least one book, such as JG Ballard's The Drowned World, Jeff Noon's Vurt, Philip K Dick's The Man in the High Castle, but also Jorge Luis Borges's Ficciones and Roberto Bolaño's 2666.

On one of the beds, hidden among the giant sculptures, a lonely radio plays what sounds like distressed 1958 bossa nova. The mass bedding, the books, images, works of art and music produce a strange effect reminiscent of a Jean-Luc Godard film, a culture of quotation in a context of catastrophe.

In the shelter, the prone figures are reminiscent of Henry Moore's 'shelter drawings', while his sculpture for sheep stands next to a giant apple core by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. Museums have been closed for years because of water seepages and the high level of humidity. In the huge collective shelter that the Turbine Hall has become, a fantastical and heterogeneous montage develops, including sculpture, literature, music, cinema, sleeping figures and drops of rain.

I understand where has coming from and his aims of his work but seems that it looks like his pick his favourite work and stuff and mashe it togehter and than called it art.Harsh to say but would it be more effective if it was simple like just cover the whole floor of bunk beds with the books on top rather than just have the floor and random objects which make know impacted.

What is Synth Eastwood?

Established in 2006 Synth Eastwood is a Dublin based music, art & technology group. Our aim is to present creative work from around the world in an atmosphere more akin to a gig than an exhibition. This is done by inviting artists of every field and level of experience to submit work based on a theme/brief we set. All relevant work is welcomed and exhibited at no cost* to the artist.

Since the groups first show in May of 2006, the number of artists submitting has doubled for each show. In addition to the submitted work bands are invited to play, along with the Synth Eastwood band who perform a set based on the show's theme. In fact all facets of the show even down to the layout and structure of the exhibition space are considered in relation to the brief.

Interactivity is another important aspect to our show and is implemented whenever possible allowing the audience to play with aspects of the music, visuals, and installations. This is put into action through the use of customised interactive controls and gismos.

To date we’ve had 6 shows in Dublin and one in Berlin.
We've also performed at Electric Picnic and the Turnov Arts Festival, Czech Rep.

The skills to this module is probably
- Using my time better,Updating my blogger,and able to play around with the idea of cd case that parts of could see through which shines from the cd inside,rather from my original idea was to have coloured paper behind it.
- developing constant ideas,many design ideas for t-shirt logos created over 200 thumbnails.
- Looking at primary and secondary research and analyzing of overall opinions like high lighting words that could be helpful from the questionnaires for the general public and professional blues players From this I created my logo and company name this was called inspired.
-skills on photoshop and 'thinking out side of the box',fro example creating my smoked effect with notes was very easy because i didn't completely rely on photoshop and I didn't use smoke to create smoke,i used ink in water which still creates a smoke effect but better, and in photoshop and invert it and few layers and used brightness and contrast. Learnt the skills that you don't need to be a brain boffing in photoshop.

2. What approaches to generating work and solutions to problems have you developed and how have they helped?
- I struggled to create my my final piece like for example my screen print on t-shirts as I was a bit rusty and the screen created many be not sure what i was doing so I had wendy for most of the day helping me.
The Cd case was a bit of a problem trying to get the information also having the songs and the logo fit write in composition on the cd case but was able to see though the case on to the cd disc shining through and still-able to read it in a small space or area on the sleeve.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalize on these?
More professional final product, and photograph them more clearly and good quality.

These are just a few of my questionnaire,I gave them out to find what the general public so I can see if they know blues and how much.

I under lined a few words from the questionnaires to find a key word to use as an logo. From looking at the questionnaire I found that not many students don't know much about blues music and don't relies the music they listen to are linked to blues or been inspired by blues.

These are my design sheets of what the front of the t-shirts with the bands logo.

These are what i have choosen for my final designs but not yet sure weather they should a large size in the middel of the t-shirt or should be small in the top corner.

The text is smaller than I thought so I might change the layout of the t-shirt to i could improve it or if it works as a long line.

and I came across Andy Gilmores work which I really like his patterns and colours he uses very mesersing but I came across some intersting comments.

I can see the simaritys but he has it his work his own.

Printing techniques

This couple of days we've been learning different print techniques what works appropriatly from either mass production or one of pieces.
also been learning from the difference between RGB and CMYK.Here's a few of my notes and information that I put it in my sketch book. I found the typography from my non format book that I just bought.they already created I love RGB and CMYK so i did my own as well to go with all types of printing.

first brief of second year

From our collection during the summer collecting contrasting colours typography or image. Taxonomy.
We had to pick a Pacific image from everything that we found during the summer andsum up a pattern or message from our collection.
When i i was put into groups it was obvious that what i did was about coins.As a group we came up with ideas like 'object of desire', or 'more money more problems'. There were good ideas but i thought I could come up with something better that is relevant to the summer brief.
I came up with idea about the price getting increasingly high food, petrol, gas and electric. Also major bank company's going bankrupt and air plain company's.
I used the word 'The credit crunch' because its now the most used word in the nation during the past few months. The pound coin was a a perfect icon of using the meaning of money but also showing the queens face pins points the money issue in Britain.
I used helevetica for my typography and used the icon to 'crush' the credit crunch typography. I took the photo simply by using to sheets of paper one on the table and other on the wall. The sequence works well its just a shame that the computer that i was using would let me open adobe illustrator so i could manly change the typography while it was getting crunch but i manage with photoshop. Apart from that this is my first quick brief since June so I'm a bit chuffed.

collecting coins

One of my best friends lent me her coin collecting which she was given bye a friend of a family.I had a good study of these coins which where all round the world from Africa to Asia some where roman and victorian coins.I thought this was a perfect chance to this project.
These are the once I have choosen cos there why so many i couldnt do all them!

The composition on the typography is brilliant.I always seem to love the non-format design.Just because of there crisps final results which I never seem to get it but its great to look at there stuff and become at there same level of there professionalism.

A student from another uni has designed this and put it on her blogger.Ilike he packing and the colours she has used.Sharpe designs.

My design for my CD cover changed so Ive chosen to look at other CD packing.

I like the material of paper being used.

Well crafted.but i find it hard to read some of them.the theory is good though.The poster works well the photograph works well with the subject and graphic designers can relate to.

From the website C100 Studio ive shoosen to put cd covers cos im doing a cd cover at the moment for speaking from expeience.this is really helpful for to look at colour, theme,composition and layout.

A fantastic website these are some of of there work.But it is better to look at the website.You'll be on it for hours!

Her work is Pacific.Used on the sawing machine.Even though its hand crafted looks like she fix it up or added it more detail on photoshop.This is a great technique to use when youve hand drawen something and needs better quality and sometime gives a different effect.

Im doing a soundtrack to the first year.This is helpful for me look at there work and style.iIm doing a cd but i do like the hole retro idea using cassette tapes.The badges are well made they blend into the cassette tape like a camouflage.

very simplistic,to be honest i didnt know it was a music video!

very odd video,but a few other Cornelius music videos are odd as well.but they look great and work well with his music.

This is just brilliant!very entertaining animation but the plot is very clever and you do feel very sorry for the old lady.

i love the interaction with it everyone is involved.Simple idea but very effective.

Pritty animation.by Psyop.They have also done a ad for fanta.but its not as good as these two.
